When, on 11 February 1858, the Virgin appeared to Bernadette for the first time at the rock of Massabielle the French Pyrenees, this had turned 14 just over a month. She was born, in fact, January 7, 1844. She, poor and illiterate, but with a heart devoted to the Rosary, it is often the "Lady." In the appearance of 25 March 1858, the Lady revealed her name, "I am the Immaculate Conception." Four years earlier, Pope Pius IX declared the Immaculate Conception of Mary a dogma, but that Bernadette could not know. The pastoral letter signed by the Bishop of Tarbes in 1862, after careful investigation, Lourdes consecrated forever to his vocation as an international shrine. On the evening of July 7, 1866, Bernadette Soubirous decides to escape from the famous Saint-Gildard, the parent of the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Nevers. There will be 13 years. Bedridden with asthma, tuberculosis, knee bone cancer at the age of 35 years, Bernadette off April 16, 1879, Wednesday to Easter.
