BIOGRAFIA
Da BEETHOVEN al BEAT:  a 8 anni comincia a studiare pianoforte classico, ed appena tre anni dopo già suona nelle “cantine” col suo primo complessino BEAT.

Periodo ITALIA (1970-1973):  CITTÀ FRONTALE, nucleo originario degli Osanna; frequenti concerti alla base NATO di Napoli.  Poi anni contorti e indimenticabili come tastierista e cantante del BALLETTO DI BRONZO, il gruppo più “oltre”, sia per la musica che per l’immagine, dell’intera scena del POP ITALIANO  di quel periodo. Come tastierista partecipa alla realizzazione dell’album di Adriano Celentano  “I mali del secolo” e al musical commentary of "Metrapolis", an album of poems written and recited by the poet Guido Ballo. Period (1974-1975): discovery of its essential singularity and uniqueness as a musician and composer. From the keyboard of a group to solo artist composes the music, arranges, performs the playing every instrument, singing and ... living.

LONDON / NEW YORK (1975-1976): the hotel "Chelsea" and its varied wildlife, the frequent contacts with the artistic avant-garde New York and London, find a night to make music with Don Cherry, friends with another New York Dolls .... born TRUE, the first solo album, entirely conceived, composed, arranged, played and sung by Leonero.

ITALY Period (1976-1978): In the '78 record, playing all the instruments again, 45 days. FREMO, which allows among others to view his music through the electronic media (video) and film (movie concept). HOLLYWOOD

LeoNero, nella facciata A, si avvale di musicisti di talento provenienti da 4 diverse bands di L.A., che formano, in occasione di questo album, un “ensemble” significativamente denominato “Optical Band”; subito dopo, coerentemente, suona egli stesso tutti gli strumenti nella facciata B, e cura la produzione musicale dell’intera opera.

Periodo ITALIA (1981-1982): nel 1982 esce sul mercato il 45 gg. INDOSSA IL MIO COLORE/ STANCHIAMOCI INSIEME, realizzato con strumentisti fra i più pregevoli del panorama italiano.  LeoNero vi figura nelle vesti di autore, arrangiatore, musicista, cantante e produttore.

Periodo STOCCOLMA/VIENNA (1984-1985):  LeoNero raggiunge i vecchi compagni del Balletto di Bronzo, i quali, ormai naturalizzati svedesi, hanno un loro studio di registrazione - l’HUMLAN - che è punto di riferimento della più creativa scena musicale svedese.  LeoNero registra alcuni brani destinati alla sua produzione solistica. Con concerti da solista, a Vienna partecipa - unico artista italiano - U-MODE '85, annual exhibition of fashion / designers are taking part in music and musicians from different European countries.

Period ROME (1987): Leonero by Gianni Leone. Recording songs.

Period SWEDEN (1990): proposes its successful formula of solo concert voice / keyboards, alternating songs and pieces by foreign artists performing in local cities. ROME

Period (1991-1992): an intense concert, accompanied by drummer and bassist Max Duilio Sorrenti Gazzè.

1993: he published a CD with two unusual specimens of YS sung in English and dating al 1971 - fino ad allora inutilizzati - che viene distribuito in tutto il mondo.

1995-1997:  collabora con il gruppo rock progressivo DIVAE,  partecipando come ospite sia sul CD che nei concerti, alcuni dei quali vedono la presenza anche di Gary Green, chitarrista dei GENTLE GIANT.  Col batterista ed il bassista dello stesso gruppo riforma IL BALLETTO DI BRONZO in versione TRIO. Questa formazione è attiva fino al ‘97, anno in cui il nuovo organico del gruppo vede Riccardo Spilli alla batteria ed Alessandro Corsi al basso.

1999:  viene pubblicato il CD del Balletto di Bronzo TRYS, registrato dal vivo nel ‘96.

2000:  Il Balletto di Bronze NEARfest participate in the 2000 Pennsylvania - United States, the MEXPROG Festival in Mexico City and at the Rio Art Rock Festival in Rio de Janeiro.

2002: Baja Prog Festival (Mexicali, Mexico). PROG'SUD festival (Marseille, France).
Opening act for Carl Palmer Band. Japan tour with Il Balletto di Bronzo, as a solo artist (Leonero) collaborations and concerts with the Japanese groups ARS NOVA and GERARD.

2003: Tour in Mexico. Tour Chile solo concerts in Italy by Gianni Leone. Opening act for Ozric Tentacles.

2005: Opening act for Porcupine Tree.

2006: The new drummer Adolfo Ramundo. Very successful tour in Mexico,
with the presentation of new music too. Concerts in Italy.

2007: Baja Prog Festival in Mexicali and Mexico's new tour. Concerts in Italy.

2008: It published all over the world for the first live DVD Black Widow Ballet
Bronze. Gianni participates as a guest to some tour dates with Osanna David Jackson, saxophonist for Van Der Graaf Generator, and plays 3 tracks on the CD "Family Prog.

2009: Publication of the book / biography, written by Gianmaria Council, "The Balletto di Bronzo and the idea of \u200b\u200borganized delirium ", with accompanying CD contains live footage of the band and songs of Gianni Leone. The collaboration with Osanna and David Jackson.

2010: Concert tour in Italy and in Korea and Japan with the Hosanna
and David Jackson.
