Non certo dall’impossibile ignoranza della sua missione: egli sa chi è e dove sta andando.
Poteva forse avere un qualche interesse nel reperire l’immagine di sé sulle bocche curiose della gente?
Chi è da sempre l’immagine perfetta del Padre non ha bisogno di simili specchi deformanti. La domanda di Gesù viene dal profondo affetto per i suoi, per quelli che hanno lasciato tutto e lo stanno seguendo.
Quelli di cui conosce le ansie e i timori e gli interrogativi acuti e i dubbi e (perché no?) misunderstandings about his identity and about their joint venture. It moved to compassion by their faithful following that perhaps could not understand.
