DAVID JACKSON Sax ... and Found! 
Era la settimana prima del "Natale 2010". Il giorno Giovedì, mi recai a Roma su un volo della "Easyjet" in partenza da Gatwick. Ero in viaggio, come al solito con il mio bagaglio: valige grandi e pesanti piene di sax e flauti e accessori importanti come cinghie e supporti, strumenti e canne. Quella sera avevo fatto le prove per lo spettacolo suonando con la band di Jerry Cutillo chiamata O.A.K. Maartin Allcock. Io ero l'ospite d'eccezione per 'Natale nel Deserto' uno show speciale all' "Antu Live Music Club", via Libetta, Roma. La serata è stata lunga e stancante, ma il set è stato emozionante e la performance è stata fantastica. Lo spettacolo venne fissato per Venerdì e ciò che lo rese del tutto eccezionale è stata la presenza di tanti bambini. Jerry ha un affascinante figlia di 8 anni di nome Isabella, la quale arrivò con i suoi compagni di classe e con i genitori che li accompagnavano. Mia moglie Sue mi telefonò dal lavoro dicendomi di fare qualcosa perchè nessuno mi avrebbe aiutato a ritrovare la valigia. Allora decisi di iniziare le ricerche dall'Italia perchè non vi erano prove tangibili che la valigia fosse stata imbarcata a Fiumicino. Ho inviato una email a tutti gli amici della mia rubrica per vedere se qualcuno aveva conoscenze all'aeroporto. Uno dei miei amici, Gianni Leone, un genio della musica e membro della "Fraternità Osanna", decise di telefonare in aeroporto. Per caso Gianni riuscì a parlare con un funzionario comprensivo il quale si interessò alla storia di un musicista rock angosciato. Per caso, questo uomo, Eric Conte, era un fan della musica progressive anni 1970 e conosceva i Van der Graaf Generator, Osanna e Balletto di Bronzo, (band di Gianni). Così decise di lasciare la sua scrivania e andò a cercare la valigia con la foto e le descrizioni chiare nella sua mente. Più tardi, quella notte, Eric riuscì a trovare la valigia. Immediatamente telefonò a Gianni, who wrote me an email saying: "David, I am very, very happy to inform you that the drama has ended: your luggage is found! It 's still here at the airport in Rome, forgotten in an elevator ....! !!... a fan named Eric found it and called me a minute ago to tell me. "
Thursday. Erik Conte called me to confirm that the suitcase would arrive with the flight to Gatwick in the afternoon. I thanked Eric from the depths of my heart for your kindness and I went to the airport. At Gatwick, I expected more chaos. Many flights were canceled, and again there was a queue of over 100 people at the "easyJet desk" so I had no option but to wait my turn. Dopo 2 ore, parlai con una ragazza che mi diede i numeri di telefono degli uffici interni aggiungendo anche che dovevo avere la conferma che il bagaglio fosse realmente su quel volo e che fosse arrivato. Telefonai a questi numeri per 30 minuti senza ottenere nessuna risposta. Anche mio figlio Jake telefonò e mi disse "Vai avanti e digli che hai ottenuto la conferma". Così feci e aspettai altri 30 minuti insieme ad una ragazza di nome Susie con un pass di sicurezza che serviva per portarmi nela sala "ritiro bagagli". Non sapeva affatto dove fosse la valigia. Mi guardai intorno, la scena era caotica,i passeggeri,i caroselli, le borse e le valigie tutte sparse. Ancora una volta fui preso dal panico. Dopo 5 minuti:"l'ho trovata!" La mia valigia era sul nastro trasportatore N°2. Le chiusure e le cerniere erano state sciolte, ma sembrava tutto OK. Era stata chiaramente aperta; infatti il mio sigillo era rotto. Mi sono messo da parte ed ho verificato il contenuto, mentre Susie mi guardava con stupore per la miriade di strumenti e accessori contenuti nella valigia. Nulla è stato apparentemente sottratto. Mi sono sentito rinascere! Susie ha detto "Buon Natale!". Sono stato estremamente fortunato ad avere persone che volevano aiutarmi. Tra perdita di tanto tempo e la confusione, nessun funzionario sembrava aver cura o fare qualsiasi sforzo. Ancora oggi, alla pagina web di World Tracer si dice:"nessuna informazione sulla sorte del mio bagaglio,"... ma ce l'ho a casa e gliel'ho detto!
Sarò eternamente grateful for the network of family, friends and fans for their continued support my music career.
